The curriculum will cover but will not be restricted to the following -
- The design specifications of different Indian and International Standards like IS: 10262, IS: 456, IS: 13920, IRC: 112, Eurocode 2 and Eurocode 8.
- Explanations of the Codal clauses highlighting the basic concepts and fundamental principles.
- Teaching design in detail and not merely demonstrate how to perform design.
- The methodology to develop design aids for performing design with any grade of concrete and steel permitted by the standards to overcome the shortcomings of the design aids or tools available.
- The methodology of design of RC Shear Walls following the fundamental principles of Limit State Method.
- The basic aspects of strength, serviceability and ductility design of earthquake resistant structures.
- The shortcomings of IS:456-2000 and the probable modifications in materials and design philosophy expected in the forthcoming revision of the standard.
